IDS will stay!
I was just thinking, with only two days left of the x-mas theme or winterdays(call it what you want). Will IDS(aka. Ice dragon sword) still be around ? After 7 farms without any IDS drops I am starting to loss fate. So my plan was to wait until the price on it was a little lower, but if it is going to leave together with the x-mas thingy I need more gold.

From Gaile Gray's comments, i think IDS is only for Wintersday duration. So after the event is done, it will be removed along with all those x-mas decoration and themes!

I thought she didn't even know about them before it was brought up to her and that she didn't know whether they would stay.
If they don't stay, I am going to be very pissed .

Its unclear from gaile's comments if she ment the IDS or candy cane sword.
With the IDS's set mods it could be removed.
No one really know until the update is removed.

Ofcouse the people who has it are going to keep them. But if no new ones spawn the price will be sky high on the those there are left. I think you will be abel to keep your christmas-gadgets. You still see players with halloween stuff, like the pumkin hat.

I don't like the idea of them being removed, but with them in their perfect form it kind of puts ANet in a tough place.

I was in Lions Arch Int'l Dist 1 two nights ago when Gaile was there. I pointedly asked her the question whether the IDS would (1) still be available outside Lyssa's cave and (2) whether existing IDS's would stay in inventory.
She responded that (1) the IDS "may" be a wintersday item only and (2) that the IDS would continue to stay in your inventory, along with all other Christmas items. She did not indicate, however, whether the candy canes would continue to remove DP (although I asked her that question multiple times).

My understanding about it is that the winterdays theme including the theme collectors will be removed. However the items obtained during this time will remain in your inventory as long as you have them. (I had the several complete sets of Halloween items six months after Halloween.)
As far as the IDS it too will still stay in your inventory, but as far as it continuing to drop is still a bit unclear. I’m sure it will still drop after wintersday ends.
Candy canes will also still be in your inventory there’s a few threads on this. But I would like to see merchants get something similar to the candy canes a buy only item to off set the prices of people selling candy canes and allow people to still be able to remove DP

It would be silly if they removed it, it's not like it's a fantastic weapon it's just different looking, it doesn't come with anything fantastic and can only have one upgrade.
I hope they keep it.

It'd be funny if they stopped dropping after Wintersday, and were all replaced with IDS's that had no Mods on them.

Why? Equally perfect (actually better, since you can mod both pre- and suffix) weapons are already common as dirt.

I would guess that the fixed stats IDS's (with 15>50 req 9) will be removed and replaced by standard random stat versions. This would allow them to drop in purple and gold varieties as well (with all the usual trimmings like +11 to +15 dmg/-5 energy, while stance, enchanted, etc...), which would be a big plus in my book
However, just in case ANET chooses to simply discontinue IDS drops, I'm going to hold onto at least 2 IDS's already in my inventory.

No, it wouldn't. There are some people who would like to actually use one but can't get one right now.

2 things.
I think she was talking about the IDS, not the candy cane sword. She said the word "sword". Why would she only refer to the CC Sword and not the other weapons? And why would someone only ask about the CC sword. It doesnt make sense. I think the sword will be discontinued.
And NO WAY will they discontinue it, and not let people that already have it, keep it. That would be so wrong of them to do, and I think they know that.

ANET will only do this for 2 reasons
1 - if they honor April Fools day (not likely... It's a US-only calendar event, and we're no where near April 1st. Keep in mind that ANET is Korean-based).
2 - IDS's have an exploitable loophole that allow multiple hilts or pommels to be placed on the same item (aka SoA axe bug). At present, no such exploit has been found with current IDS's.
Conclusion: Pigs will start unassisted flying before current IDS's are globally replaced by non-magical versions

I don't understand why they drop with perfect stats in first place. Something probably went wrong. It just doesn't any make sense if they are going to remove it or make it to drop with random stats. That would be so unfair against players who don't play at holidays.

How would it be unfair?, i mean this weapon is nothing overpowered, if anything its worst than the other ones out there simply because you cannot change the icy on them.

Arenanet was formed from a few ex-Blizzard employees and is based in Bellevue, WA. You're probably thinking of NCsoft, the publisher.

Besides which, April Fool's Day is NOT US only. What a load of twaddle.
